Which cookies and similar technologies Monte Peony uses on montepeony.com, account.montepeony.com and planner.montepeony.com, why, for how long, and how to control them.
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between visits, such as that you're signed in, or, with analytics cookies, help its owner understand how the site is used. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in a comparable way, and this Policy covers them too.
Under the EU ePrivacy rules, the UK's PECR and similar laws, we may use cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you've asked for without your consent, and we ask for your consent before setting any others. This Policy covers all our sites and should be read with our Privacy Policy. Every cookie listed here is set by us (first-party), except Google Analytics cookies, which are set on our sites for Google.
These are strictly necessary and can't be switched off through a cookie banner. They don't track you across other websites.
mp_access_token (1 hour) and mp_refresh_token (30 days) keep you signed in. They're shared by every Monte Peony site on montepeony.com, so one sign-in works for all of them.
locale (1 year) remembers your chosen language, and themeMode (1 year) whether you chose a light or dark appearance. Both are shared by every Monte Peony site on montepeony.com, so a choice made on one applies to all of them.
cookieConsent (1 year) remembers whether you've accepted or declined analytics cookies. It's shared by montepeony.com, your account and Planner, so we ask once for all three.
Google Analytics, provided by Google, helps us understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and how people move through them. When you're signed in, it also receives your account's internal ID (never your name or email address) and the steps you take in our products, such as creating an event or adding guests, with the event's ID and how many were added; never a guest's details. Its cookies are set only after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner.
_ga (up to 2 years) distinguishes one browser from another.
_ga_<ID> (up to 2 years) keeps the state of a visit.
analyticsEvent (10 minutes) carries the name of one step you've just completed, such as creating an account, from the page where it happened to the next Monte Peony site you land on, which reports it to Google Analytics and then deletes it. It holds nothing else.
The sign-in and language cookies above, the same cookieConsent cookie, and, only with your consent, the same Google Analytics cookies as on montepeony.com. Google Analytics never runs on the pages opened from a password-reset or email-verification link.
cookieConsent (1 year) is the same cookie as on montepeony.com, so an answer given on either site applies to both.
mp_invite (1 day) holds a planning invitation while you sign in or create an account to accept it.
mp_start (1 hour) remembers what you chose to start with on the home page, such as a sample event, while you create an account.
mp_sidebar (1 year) remembers that you've collapsed the side menu.
mp_tz (1 year) remembers your device's time zone, so dates such as "12 days to go" count from your own day.
The same Google Analytics cookies as on montepeony.com, set only after you click "Accept" on Planner's cookie banner. Google Analytics never runs on guests' reply pages.
If you decline, or haven't answered yet, the Google Analytics tag isn't loaded at all: no analytics cookies are set and nothing is sent to Google.
On each site, your choice of light, dark or system appearance is kept in your browser's local storage. On the day of an event, guest check-ins you make on Planner's Today page are kept in local storage until they reach our servers, so none are lost if your connection drops. None of this is used to track you.
Our sites ask once, with a banner, whether to accept or decline analytics cookies; both choices are equally easy, and your answer applies to montepeony.com, your account and Planner alike. To change your mind later, clear your cookies for montepeony.com in your browser and reload the page, and the banner will ask again. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect what happened before.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you won't be able to sign in, and some preferences won't be remembered. Google also offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics on every site.
We may update this Cookie Policy as the cookies we use, or the law, change. We'll update the date at the top of this page whenever we do, and ask for your consent again if we add a cookie that needs it.
If you have any questions about this Cookie Policy, or want to use any of your rights, please contact us at [email protected] or through our contact form.
We use cookies to remember your preferences and, with your consent, to understand how Monte Peony is used. See our Cookie Policy for details.
