Frequently Asked Questions

What the playground is for, what happens to your keys, which network you are on, and what gas actually pays for.

Common questions

A playground for learning Ethereum by doing. Create or recover a wallet, read any address balance, send ETH, write and deploy Solidity, and inspect contracts that are already on-chain. Every tool runs against a network you pick from the selector, and starts on the Sepolia test network.

Neither. There is nothing to sign up for and no connection prompt — the tools work directly with an address, a private key or a seed phrase, whichever the task needs.

We never store private keys, passwords or seed phrases. Keys you paste are used in your browser to sign locally and are not transmitted to us. The one thing that does leave your browser is Solidity source code, which is sent to our server to be compiled — so do not paste anything secret into the editor.

Start on Sepolia. Test ETH is free from a faucet, gas costs nothing, and a mistake costs nothing either. Mainnet is there when you want it, and the page warns you when you switch — everything you send from that point spends real ETH.

Gas is what the Ethereum network charges to process your transaction. It goes to validators, not to us, and the price moves with how busy the network is. Testnet gas costs nothing, which is why we suggest starting there.

These tools work directly with a private key or seed phrase rather than a wallet connection, so any standard Ethereum account works. For day-to-day use with real funds, prefer a hardware wallet and keep the key off the web entirely.

Deploy takes Solidity you write in the editor, compiles it with solc on our server, and sends the bytecode to the network you have selected, returning the contract address. Inspect goes the other way: give it an address and it confirms the contract exists, shows its bytecode size and balance, and calls read-only functions by signature.

Treat it as a learning exercise, not production software. Once deployed its bytecode is public — anyone can read it with the Inspect tool or a block explorer — and it cannot be edited. Nothing here is audited, so only ever put funds you are willing to lose behind it.

First check that the network selector matches the network you expect and that the account has enough ETH to cover the transaction plus gas. Each tool has a log panel showing the raw error, which is the most useful thing to include if you contact us.

No. Once a transaction is confirmed on-chain it cannot be reversed by us or by anyone else, so check the details — the network above all — before you confirm.
